Golf Guide 2008 - Two More Hot Communities
Love the golf communities highlighted in the May/June 2008 issue? Here are two California hotspots you’ll love.

Stone Eagle, Palm Desert, California
A thousand feet above the Coachella Valley on ridge tops, in canyons and across rocky arroyos in the rugged foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains, Tom Doak, of Bandon Dunes fame, laid his first California golf course. Just 44 homesites in The Retreat at Stone Eagle are being developed, and residence club interests in two- to four-bedroom casitas are available. Later this year, a new clubhouse will rise from the dramatic Sonoran desert landscape.
VITALS: Homesites: $600,000-$1 million; custom homes: from $2 million; residence club interests: from the high $200,000s. (760) 773-6223, stoneeagleclub.com

Timilick Tahoe, Truckee, California
Adjacent to the Tahoe National Forest in the wooded Martis Valley, at 6,000 feet in elevation, Timilick’s soon-to-be-completed three- and four-bedroom whole-ownership townhomes feature rustic timbers, natural stone and cedar siding. World Hall of Fame pro Johnny Miller designed the golf course, which will debut when the snow melts this year. Just 400 club memberships are available to owners and others. Skiing at Northstar, the Sierra Nevada, and the Old West town of Truckee are just minutes away.
VITALS: Homesites: $275,000-$485,000; townhomes: $995,000-$1.3 million. (877) 846-4572, timilick.com
